Steven Mihaljevich's film builds a story that establishes a thin line between reality and hallucinations that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Full review in Spanish. Go to Full Review

Hugo S @Hugo_Shudder 4d Terrified by the tragic cases of missing children, a woman gets increasingly obsessed with the safety of her daughter. The overprotective mother sees every neighbour as an imminent threat, triggering in her a paranoid and unsettling behaviour. "Violett" is a slow-burning psychological horror with unusual and artsy filmmaking. The movie takes the audience on a hallucinatory journey immersed in a tense and dread atmosphere. "Why can't they see what we see?" - asks the fearful mother who sees in every character a malevolent entity willing to devour her child. The story is a case study of how grief can shatter the human mind, trapping a damaged woman between reality and fantasy. Deeply disturbing! See more Diana S Nov 18 While I found this movie fairly derivative and heavy-handed with dark Wizard of Oz imagery, which I dare say has become passe at this point in the process, it's better than most of the tripe out there and totally worth watching. For my money though, if I had to choose, I'd take Bring Her Back over this. See more Suzi A Aug 3 I may be biased as I was in the movie as ‘the lady down the street’ however when I read the script Steven J Mihaljevich sent me I knew I was a part of a masterpiece from this man’s mind. I was privileged to have been a part of this movie. The story may seem slow at first but Steven is just stoking the fires and as the story evolves you are hooked. It is a well written story with a head punching finale, a bit like being smacked in the head. This movie is anything but predictable with a fantastic cast and crew giving their all. The ‘horror’ genre may put some off, but it is not the norm… suspenseful, sad, manic, peeking into the mind of a broken woman. Watch and see for yourself. See more Hamed B Jul 12 Steven Mihaljevich is a genius! The way he weaves the story together is pure magic. The cast is perfection! They bring so much depth and emotion to their characters, you'll be feeling all the feels. What I love most about Violett is how it balances the light and dark moments. It's real, it's raw, and it's relatable. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll be left thinking about the characters long after the credits roll. See more Matty B Jul 1 It’s a rare feat to manage such a quality film on a low budget. Very well acted. Looks great. Compelling slow-burn psychological horror that’s worth the watch. Found myself thinking about it for days afterwards. Also, love the music. See more Isaiah s Jun 26 Devastating. Art house horror at it best See more Read all reviews
