Brent H @BrentMHinson Feb 3 When I discovered the four-part docu-series No Dress Rehearsal, I saw it as an opportunity to solve a mystery: what made this five-piece band from Kingston, Ontario, so beloved across an entire country, yet such a blind spot for me? What I discovered was a profound story of brotherhood, built on a thirty-year commitment to one another and the music they created. Throughout the series, there is a lingering reminder that "The Hip" never truly found mainstream success in the States. Their lack of American superstardom wasn't due to the quality of their music. Instead, they chose to embrace their collective love of performing for audiences who recognized their worth—listeners who appreciated the distinct poetry and grit they brought to their compositions. The story of The Tragically Hip is one of wisdom, beauty, sorrow, and grace, too. See more Read all reviews
