TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 1d Recess: All Grown Down is a 2026 Disney film revisiting TJ Detweiler and the gang, but it fails to capture the charm of the original series. The story leans on "never growing up," but the narrative is simplistic and predictable, targeting only very young children. Animation quality feels stiff and minimal, lacking the vibrancy and energy of prior entries. Character interactions are muted, with TJ and friends showing little growth, and supporting roles feel underdeveloped. While moments of slapstick humor and nostalgic references provide mild entertainment, the film is overall juvenile and flat. The soundtrack and voice acting are serviceable but do little to elevate the material. It’s only suitable for young children or nostalgic fans seeking a brief glimpse at the characters, but it doesn’t offer enough depth, emotional engagement, or creative storytelling to appeal to a broader audience or make a lasting impression. See more r 9 07/12/2020 A tedious watch. Non-fans of the show won't like this. 'Recess: All Growed Down' is another compilation film, though at least this one has a firmer overall theme to it unlike 'Recess Christmas: Miracle On Third Street'. The story features the kindergarten kids, which is mildly interesting but it's dumbed-down a little - this feels aimed solely at children, way more than the preceding two productions anyway. Andrew Lawrence's absence as T.J. is surprisingly noticeable, his replacement's voice probably adds to what I mentioned earlier in terms of sounding more kiddy. None of the rest of the cast are noteworthy. Evidently people seem to like this film, fair enough I guess. It isn't one I enjoyed though.
