G M @GM212 Jan 8 Primate is a relentless, old-school thrill ride that wastes no time earning its place among modern creature features. I genuinely forgot the chimpanzee wasn’t real at times—the CGI is that convincing, grounding the horror in an unsettling realism. With a tight 90-minute runtime, the film moves like a rollercoaster: a slow, tension-soaked buildup in the beginning that quickly gives way to nonstop chaos and intensity. Primate feels like this generation’s Cujo, a brutal and very welcome addition to the genre. It delivers exactly what horror fans want, with plenty of gore, sharp jump scares, and sustained momentum that never overstays its welcome. See more 06/10/2009 Knowing absolutely nothing about this documentary I was in for quite a shock. I'm not into the whole PETA program at all, but some of the experimenting was extremely inhumane and one even made my jaw drop for about 5 seconds. All of it is something about the relationship between humans and monkeys and how we can benefit and learn about evolution by conducting procedural studying (in the '70s). Frederick Wiseman is a great documentarian, taking us from seemingly normal laboratory primate experimenting to near insanity by the end of the film. See more Read all reviews
