The checkered past of Capt. Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) catches up to him when he encounters Angelica (Penélope Cruz), a beautiful pirate that Jack once loved then left. Angelica forces him to accompany her to the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the notorious Blackbeard (Ian McShane). Accompanied by a zombie crew, the trio sets sail to find the legendary Fountain of Youth. However, Jack's rival, Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), also seeks the fountain, as does a ship from Spain.

Missing all the special sauce from the previous entries. Plenty of actors from other, better movies are here, but they're all just phoning in their performances. It was a decent enough plot, but the writing and acting can't make it happen.

In summary, I still don’t think this movie should’ve been made. The stakes are so much lower than the other 3 movies before it and it doesn’t have the same likable and cool characters that the franchise did previously. While the guy who played the villain Blackbeard did a good job and while it is a decently fun and suspenseful adventure, it feels more like a whacky/weird Indiana Jones movie than a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I like it a little but not really because it’s such a large step down from At World’s End, which should’ve ended things given it’s quality and it’s satisfying conclusion!
