v o @MoviePhan 6d Thought provoking, as many questioning Jim's decision indicates. What's a great movie for if not that! Pratt is perfect as suffering and conflicted Jim. He takes responsibility, offers his life to both Aurora and the ship to save 5,000+ lives and pay for his "sins." He is relatable and understandable. Lawrence is ideal as Aurora who comes to know if Jim had not woken her up (or at least someone, but why not one he wants to be with) they all would have died! And he gives her the option to go back to sleep-the decision was hers. Gus/Fishbourne is a salvific figure who helps resolve their conflict, tells them to "take care of each other," and gives them his bracelet to fix their dilemma. He is a moving character as well. Sheen/Arthur the Robodroid perfectly dispenses bartenderly wisdom that gets Jim and Aurora through. Forgiveness and understanding are the key. Would love sequel to learn how they survive and have child/children they put in autodoc to survive trip to Homestead II. He wouldn't have had anyone to pull the lever to release the reactor pressure while he held open the blast door. She also had the option to return to sleep using the autodoc and CHOSE not to. A must see See more Sean M @murphomatic Jan 9 Forgiving some violations of the laws of physics, this movie was well-done. Pratt's character struggles with the moral dilemma to a degree that rises a full order of magnitude above what the average person in today's "all-about-me, instant-gratification, 30-second-microwave-popcorn" society would. If you pay close enough attention, you can watch the various subplots develop smoothly and slowly, without having to shock the viewer to close some ghastly plot hole. The ending is good - especially because it's not the peak "happily ever after" that people can't seem to live without. I think most people would've liked to see Aurora kick Jim's a** out into the void of space, screaming "F*ck the patriarchy!" right before she Autodocs herself back into suspended animation and arrives safely on Homestead II where she writes her book and proceeds to girl-boss it up, finally proving to everyone that "she don't need no man," because we haven't gotten enough of that kind of tripe already 🙄.
