Hector I @Hector1184BC 1d Jean-Pierre Marielle plays Henri, a traveling umbrella salesman bored with life, whose true passion is painting. During a trip to rural France, full of flawed yet hospitable people, an accident changes everything. An artist offers him lodging, but Henri discovers the man exploits women, especially the vibrant Angela. Henri falls for her, defends her, and they escape to Pont-Aven. There, Henri finally thrives—painting, laughing, alive—until Angela leaves him for the artist. Back home, he finds his wife cheating and returns to Pont-Aven, living in misery, drunk, and mocked, sustaining himself by trading paintings like Van Gogh. Sex and female inspiration drive his art, and when Marie, a pure young woman at the inn, inspires him, he embraces life again, brief joys fueling his creativity. Marielle is mesmerizing, blending charm and raw vulnerability. See more Read all reviews
