09/14/2014 Horrible pacing and it falls flat at the third chapter. The ending leaves you wanting more, but not in the "oh this is so good I want more" sense, but more in the "what the fuck? is this it? this is bullshit" sense. The acting was good for the main character, but the rest suffered the curse of theatre acting to an extent that some of them did that weird "talking with strange emphasis" thing. It had some shots that at first I thought were good, but then the same shot kept appearing every time and it got boring to look at. The DP was very good, everything looked beautiful, but every shot was way too long and every scene with dialog was just a single shot that made it feel like you were watching a play instead. Who the hell shoots a 2 minutes conversation scene with just one single static shot?! that was painful to look at. I could go on and on, but I'll end with this: this movie had a something important to say about art and it bothers me, it hurts me that it was done so badly.
