Tough trapper Flint Mitchell (Clark Gable) is a tenacious survivor in the unforgiving wilderness of the West. Determined to stay on the good side of the local Blackfoot tribe, Flint is intent on marrying Kamiah (Maria Elena Marques), the beautiful daughter of Ironshirt (Ricardo Montalban) -- especially since this union would allow him to freely pursue his trade in the region. C
One of Clark Gable's and director William Wellman's weakest films, this is a sprawling Western, running only 78 minutes, butchered by the producer in the editing room. Go to Full Review

Robert Feb 5 Beautifully filmed. Weak story line and so-so acting. See more Steve D 06/22/2023 Not among his best but still entertaining. See more 03/08/2018 IT IS GOOD SNOW TO SEE IT. See more 05/10/2016 another mountain men western like 'jeremiah johnson" 'the revenant" or 'mountian men" See more 08/17/2014 Picturesque but dull frontier tale about mountain men moving out west in the late 1800s. Clark Gable leads a group of mountain men further west into the Northwest Territories, but runs afoul Native Americans led by Ricardo Montalban who Gable and company can't figure out why ar fighting them and think it's their land. This film isn't all that good even if you get past the racist Hollywood depiction of Native Americans. Director William Wellman actually disowned this film after studio recuts and the insertion of voice over narration. On the plus side, the film does feature the film debut of Timothy Carey See more 02/17/2014 Thought this was a pretty good flick. Story line a bit better than some westerns. Fantastic film work in the Rocky Mountains. Good cast. See more Read all reviews
