After transferring into a new school, a deaf girl, Shoko Nishimiya, is bullied by the popular Shoya Ishida. As Shoya continues to bully Shoko, the class turns its back on him. Shoko transfers and Shoya grows up as an outcast. Alone and depressed, the regretful Shoya finds Shoko to make amends. "A Silent Voice" is a moving coming-of-age drama that depicts the struggles of adolescence through its memorable characters and beautiful animation.

Naoko Yamada crafts a hazy, nostalgic visual style perfect for exploring the ideas of guilt and memory which drive its plot but it’s the movies colourful, finely-tuned cast of characters which make it so easy to spend time with.

I think this movie is definitely a must watch It's a movie about teen bullying and I'll not tell you much But I can assure you that this movie is just an emotional masterpiece and you'll absolutely cry or atleast on the verge of crying People compare it to "your name" and think they are good movies but this is just something you can't avoid watching The way to get attached to characters, the way you feel that the characters feel and this movie's story writing is so good that you feel you are in it Movies like Your Name tend to seem more beautiful cause of the fictional story but Silent Voice is the everyday lives of thousands of people

This movie made me look closer on how I treat others and how people view me. This movie shows a young boy learn to love himself after he bullied a deaf girl. As he tried make things correct he feels constantly guilty and beaten up on how he treated her. This movie made me think. 11/10. Will watch again.

Without a doubt one of the most raw and truthful depictions of the effects of bullying and how a lot of children/teenagers prioritize fitting in over treating others with decency. This movie tackles topics of suicide, self-love, social anxiety, complete isolation and more and does it so well. It never overexaggerates anything while simultaneously, you feel fully every dreadful emotion in the beginning and middle. Which because of that, the ending half of this movie hits and it hits HARD. It's almost impossible to not at the least get teary-eyed seeing the changes that Shoya and Shoko go through and without spoiling anything, the last 5 minutes of this movie is some of the most beautiful cinema I've ever watched. Few times have I ever been so proud of a character in those last few minutes as I was with Shoya's arc. The line delivery in this movie is incredible (watched in Japanese) and the animation is gorgeous. Not a single bad word about this movie. Everyone should watch it.
