It's International Elvis Week in Las Vegas, where the strip is flooded by a sea of King wannabes decked out in jumpsuits and sideburns. But five of the impersonators swaggering into the Riviera Hotel are toting heavy weaponry in their guitar cases. It's the heist of a lifetime, orchestrated by ex-con Michael (Kurt Russell) and his cunning former cellmate, Murphy (Kevin Costner). The crooked Elvises steal away with $3.2 million, leaving the hotel in ruins and a high body count in their wake.

With his mean-stud swagger, brushed-back coiffure, scimitar-shaped sideburns and a wardrobe that reeks of white trash sartorial splendor, Costner certainly looks the part of a sneaky-snakey ex-convict with grand plans and a short fuse. It tied up alright, people got killed on the way, and the level of humour matched the style, which was stolen from Tarantino, it’s worst crime. The kid was great, still acting. Kostner as a psycho was acting out of his comfort zone but was given a little back story, and he did it well. I did laugh out loud when he changed into a wombat. Russell was very good and as the ‘redemption’ character. I loved the Elvis impersonation scenes. Cox was the very sexy mum and she lit up the movie. It’s worth more than 15% Rotten Tomatoes 🍅 Oh, and watch credits to the end, a few funny out takes.
