Under Salt Marsh is a bit of a slow burn, but it’s a finely crafted tonal piece, of what might be called Welsh noir, about the death of a child. Go to Full Review

I can’t remember a British show that looked this evocative – colours carry a deep resonance, while the landscape has a panoramic heft. Go to Full Review

This is dour stuff, but while you won’t feel remotely cheered by this drama, you won’t be bored by it either. Go to Full Review

Under Salt Marsh is elevated by a powerful cast, which also includes Mark Stanley, Naomi Yang and Kimberley Nixon, and gritty interactions. It’s also beautifully -- cinematically -- shot, capturing the drama, splendour and melancholy of the marshlands. Go to Full Review

Andy M @Andy123267 10h By no means the best drama ever televised but definitely worth a watch. A Slow burn but far from boring under the salt marsh is thrilling in parts and thoroughly enjoyable throughout. However... The behaviour of some of the characters is strange to the point of unbelievable as is the actions of the police that seem completely inconceivable in a modern professional police service. The completely flat and soon to be flooded salt marsh island, connected to the mainland by a tidal causeway also somehow has large hills, mountains and a quarry. Kelly Reilly's heavy botox and off-putting lip filler makes her performance stoney and unconvincing. The way her character behaves seems narcissistic and incredibly selfish and it's hard to tell if that's a writing choice or just Reilly's acting due to the fact that her face is entirely unreadable. See more John W @Bambam67890 5d Why aren’t there Welsh people in a Welsh series. It’s a bit dull although the 2 main characters are both very good actors. Usual woke box ticking with all races represented but that’s not reality and it needs to stop as it ruins these programmes. See more Ivo C @IvoCarneiro 6d The plot may not be particularly exceptional, but the cast delivers superb performances in a classic English drama style. The most impressive aspects are the stunning landscapes, beautiful cinematography, and intriguing use of space. Climate change is portrayed as a tangible reality affecting daily life, mirroring its global impact, while a significant political dismissal of the issue looms, prioritizing a wait for catastrophe over a shift from our consumerist lifestyle. Overall, I highly recommend the series. See more David L @David1972 Feb 14 Slow and dull. The character’s are not realistic and tend towards being Stereotypical of what could possibly be perceived of the Welsh in by gone years. . It ticks all the boxes of agenda driven stories if that is what you are in to. I’m not; hence my perception regarding realism. I stopped watching after episode three. See more Jamie T @fanofdrama Feb 9 Under Salt Marsh is a moody, slow-burn crime drama set in beautiful Wales. Kelly Reilly is outstanding-bringing depth, restraint, and quiet intensity to every scene. Her performance is the clear highlight and keeps the mystery gripping. The supporting cast is equally as good. Highly recommend. See more Tim H Feb 6 I can't understand how anyone thinks this is any good. It makes little sense it's all exposition and the script seems to have been written by AI. Characters do not appear to have clear consistent motivations. The plot revolves to some geographic and environmental issues which don't make sense. I particularly liked the race to "spider island" where various characters left in the daylight arrived in the dark some drove some went by boat and some ran. They all arrived at about the same time apart from the police who were required to arrive a bit later so there could be some more exposition. See more Read all reviews
