The Truth About Charlie Reviews
Success in 1 hour and 44 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The USA grossed over $5,300,000.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only reason people low-ball this movie is the need to fetishize Grant and Hepburn. Both versions are entertaining but this one’s got better atmosphere.
It's a bit slow in parts, and the videography is unsettling to the point of almost being crazy weird. There is a sincere lack of chemistry between the leads. However, Newton gave a great performance. And I did get surprised a few times. I wanted to keep watching to find out what was really going on. Not a great movie, but fun camp. Just don't compare it to the original - take it on its own merits.
ineffective remake that's miscast leads fail to do anything with.
The Truth About Charlie is a good film with cool twists and turns, Mark Whalberg and Tim Robbins acted really well, the other co-stars did a good job too
Just OK remake of "Charade" that sort of starts ok, but just utterly falls apatt at the end. Newton and Wahlberg are ok, (though no Hepburn and Grant), the three thugs aren't menacing enough and Tim Robbins is certainly no Walter Mattheau. Plus those POV shots, those damn POV shots.
Remake de un clásico que combinaba a la prefección diversos géneros, pero esta vez a pesar de tener un buen director no logra levantar vuelo.
Can I sue Jonathan Demme for those two hours of life I wasted watching this crap? The best performance is by Simon Abkarian's mustache.
A terrible remake of Charade. God awful camera work, so jerky it makes you feel ill. Average dialogue that never engages. A horrendous miscast, with Wahlberg definitely being no Cary Grant and Thandie Newton being no Audrey Hepburn. The Truth About Charlie also has one of the worst surprise endings known to man, as not only do the informed audience know what will happen, but the twist on Charade's ending is pathetic. I get that this is supposed to be a 'hip' remake but, its pointless and hard to watch, especially with the postage stamp plot feeling like rushed and pointless throwback, unlike in Charade, where it felt fresh and new. Stay away from this Charade clone.

I really liked Newton here, but the plot seemed like it was trying to hard to be slick and since you just kept waiting for a big twist, when it finally comes it's a massive let down. Whalberg and Robbins at times see they are in a totally different movie. They are fine at times, but are hamming it up in full cheese modes in other scenes. It's flashy like the Bourne films, and keeps the interest, but it never really goes anywhere, and after the rain showdown the film is awful.
Very cool film that doesn't quite approach the level of Matt Damon in the Bourne series but is nonetheless tremendously entertaining with many delightful and unexpected cameos.
