Alone With Her Reviews
Maybe it’s too predictable for some, but I found it very entertaining. Colin Hanks was excellent in my opinion.
A 2000's indie that serves as a cinematic grandson to John Carpenter's Halloween (although that film is far more intense). Hanks' and Talancon's performances make the voyeuristic visuals fairly fascinating to witness.
Laughable thriller that takes itself way too seriously. When your father is one of the most beloved actors of all time, you are automatically going to be climbing a mountain in flip flops. Decent premise, bad execution. But I do applaud Hanks' choice to move behind the camera into documentaries (Nos Amis) because his acting is high school production level. At best.
This was a very crazy movie. This movie was a great movie I definitely recomend you check it out.
Stalker, voyeur movie that starts promising but in the end doesn't really deliver. It is better than some of these low budget found footage films but ultimately I found it unsatisfying and more importantly, unbelievable. Especially near the end when the girl would have and could have easily ran out of the house. The voyeur in me did enjoy the scene with her self pleasuring scene and that's about it.
Apparently the younger Hanks decided to follow in his father's footsteps in the mid 2000s and grow an atrocious mullet and accept garbage scripts just to get a paycheck. The writing is totally derivative, Hanks, although creepy, never makes for a menacing villain (see Dexter Season 6), and the acting is continually forced and overdramatic. The movie also seems to play like it has some sort of political agenda, pushing for background checks for buying spy gadgets and cameras, is unable to produce any real terror, and the ending is very unsatisfying.
movie-wise, it's not all that great. but the concept is. it's scary to think that this could actually happen (and probably does). it's about this man who's so obsessed with this girl that he breaks into her apartment to install multiple cameras as well as ruins her life so he can swoop in and save the day. he's obviously psycho; he did some pretty gross stuff with the knowledge he gained from all that footage he acquired. but it's predictable. i'm sure you can guess that things don't exactly go the ways he wants them to which causes him to go into serial killer mode and we all know how that ends.
Pretty disturbing. The hidden-camera things works surprisingly well, and never feels that gimmicky. I may be forever suspicious of strangers who have a lot in common with me...
Heard someone "namedrop" this in an interview. Very creepy dude. Decent low budget film. Can't even imagine the probability of people like "Doug" lurking behind every corner. Hot girls beware!
A slow build thriller that plays more on creepiness than gore, brutality, or violence, Alone with Her is a relatively quiet but profoundly unsettling found-footage horror film about a stalker and the object of his adoration.
Disturbing... i hope, more unrealistic than what it shows.... definitely made me feel uncomfortable.....
Doug we salute you. Your powers of stalking are superb, you are a professional and your dedication to the cause has been noted. Viewed through Doug's stalking equipment this film shows how Doug sucessfully stalks and fucks up a girl called Amy's life. Doug is all you would expect from a stalker, a complete nerd with no real discernable personality but a good line in computer electronics. He manages to make her lose her job, lose her new boyfriend and chucks her BFF down a flight of stairs. Doug's life is not all roses though, when Amy describes him as a clammy handed freak you can feel his pain, clammy handed freaks are people too, stalkers probably.
