Lonely transit worker Lucy Eleanor Moderatz pulls her longtime crush, Peter, from the path of an oncoming train. At the hospital, doctors report that he's in a coma, and a misplaced comment from Lucy causes Peter's family to assume that she is his fiancée. When Lucy doesn't correct them, they take her into their home and confidence. Things get even more complicated when she finds herself falling for Peter's sheepish brother, Jack.

Rotten tomatoes is blocking my review, but the bottom line is this is right up there with You’ve Got Mail and other romcom royalty. A wildly original story, but still warm with the right dose of hilarity. Also: it has one of the most perfect and likeable casts of any movie from the 90s.

Sandra Bullock is so adorable and endearing in While You Were Sleeping. Director Jon Turteltaub, of Cool Runnings and National Treasure fame, directs his cute romantic comedy While You Were Sleeping (1995) with a sweet sincerity and warm atmosphere. Turteltaub lets you get to know his lovable characters and so the insane premise of While You Were Sleeping just feels silly and fun instead of creepy or shocking. It’s just a blast of constant jokes or sweet drama about the real romance stuff we want in life. It’s always cute to revisit. Sandra Bullock is effortlessly charming and easy going as romantic heroine and CTA employee Lucy Eleanor Moderatz. Bullock is gorgeous with natural beauty and charisma. She’s so pretty, funny, and endearing that While You Were Sleeping works because of how sweet she comes across here. I liked Bill Pullman’s disbelieving brother.
