Basically a miscalculation from end to end, full of bizarre narrative turns and inexplicable craft decisions. Yet there's never any question that Linklater is fully committed, and it's hard to consider a movie "bad" that's made with this much care.

Linklater’s film is a loose adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name. Fans of the novel might take exception to how loose. Chief among the changes: Bernadette is around an awful lot for a story about someone who disappears.

Quirky, thoughtful and a bit thin on characters. Seemed that some character development early on would have helped define “why” - I thought I missed the beginning or a Part 1. I liked it. Just left me underwhelmed.
