It's a science-fiction survival film – the Ranger candidates are carrying blanks – with trace elements of Transformers, Battleship, and Spielberg's War of the Worlds. Somewhat derivative, but modestly enjoyable.

The film’s R rating is well-deserved thanks to the profusion of burnt and dismembered bodies on view in the alien machine’s wake. Unfortunately, the screenplay by Hughes and co-writer James Beaufort leaves much to be desired.

Substitute a giant metal robot spaceship entity for an ugly alien on the hunt and swap out Schwarzenegger for Reacher and you get the idea. While it certainly bloody enough to not just be another PG-13 FX spectacle it is still about as generic.

Ignore the review bombers this movie was fantastic. I read someone said "predictable" but no one forced them to watch lol. The cgi, the effects, the music, the bond. I would 100% like a part two. This is one of those movies you need a big screen and a nice sound system for but if not see it anyways! Highly recommend

I do not like Sci-Fi type movies so at first I was hesitant to watch. Very fast paced not the Sci-Fi aspect I thought it would be, which is a good thing for me. Very fast paced action based. I absolutely love military type movies. I truly enjoyed it. Excellent cast and faces you actually know and recognize from other series/movies. Very good plot. Something I would actually enjoy and watch again.
