keven Q @kevenquinlan Mar 8 Hmm. Surprised this movie wasn't more lauded. People saying they didn't feel it had enough depth? Pretty sure in the beginning of the movie it states that not much is known given Dick's tendency to be discrete?! Awesome acting, nicely paced and considering I hate politics= it was super watchable. Easy to add this to the collection. I think these people must've expected to much, you shouldn't, and you'll have a fun movie to watch. From there, Cheney uses legal loopholes and quiet maneuvering to consolidate influence, directing the White House through Bush and shaping the political landscape with little public awareness. He masterminds key decisions surrounding the Iraq War, expands executive power, and drives policies that alter the country’s trajectory, all while presenting himself as a supporting figure rather than the one truly pulling the strings. The ensemble cast is exceptional: Bale’s transformative performance is supported by Steve Carell, Amy Adams, and Sam Rockwell, each capturing the sharp personalities and conflicts of the era. Plemmons is inserted as a weird narrator, which doesn't work, and Bale surprisingly isn't allowed to present enough of a personality.
