Playing opposite ends of a spectrum -- one despairing and worn down, one so hopeful and youthful -- [Davis and Theron] could both have become caricatures of those people and never do.

This dramedy is chock full of literal and nonliteral humor with brilliant choices of phrasing and timing. Truths in this movie can be flipped like pancakes on a hot griddle and topped by a drizzle of syrup made with quite an infused kick.

Cast was great. I like a lot of them quite a bit. Writing was good. I liked the twist. It makes sense. Under great pressure the mind can do quite a bit to help you get through a temporary hardship. The directing came in clutch to make the slide of hand really work.

Marlo é mãe de 2 crianças, com um terceiro prestes a nascer. O seu irmão se oferece para pagar uma babá noturna para a recém-nascida Mia: alguém que cuidaria do bebê, enquanto Marlo dorme, sendo acordada somente na hora de amamentar. De início, Marlo rejeita a ideia, mas a sobrecarga a leva a ligar para a babá noturna. É então que chega Tully que muda tudo na vida de Marlo. Temos aqui um filme surpreendente. Pensei que seria uma comédia leve sobre a relação de Marlo com Tully, com demonstrações de ciúme e outras cenas desse tipo e, no fim, elas se reconciliariam. Porém temos aqui Charlize Theron (novamente se transformando para um papel), Jason Reitman dirigindo e Diablo Cody escrevendo. Então esse filme não seria sobre o relacionamento dessas mulheres. Correção: é, mas não do jeito que eu esperava. O tema do filme é maternidade, principalmente com a premissa de muitas mulheres de acharem que darão conta de tudo, porque o pai já provém a casa e chega cansado e relaxa jogando um videogame. Literalmente o filme manda dois avisos: mulher, não tenha vergonha de pedir ajuda; homem, deixe de ser egoísta e preste atenção na sua esposa. Charlize entrega novamente e Mackenzie Davis tem uma excelente química com ela, além de fazer um excelente trabalho como Tully, a babá perfeita. Um filme muito bom para pensarmos sobre a maternidade. Diablo Cody acerta novamente.

An empathetic conversation of particular aim and cumulative continuation that intellectually evolves from past certain works, Reitman successfully shines a light on today’s parenthood struggles through Theron’s tough embrace to evoke enough thoughtful admiration. (B)

Terrible movie, boring and forgettable. I raised 3 kids and didn't find this movie much like true life. What a waste that Charlize gained 50 lbs. for this awful film.
