The Tommyknockers Reviews
It never really comes together. It is like a bunch of loose bits shaken together.
A lesser King book slowed to a crawl by a poor script and lackluster special effects.
Terrible acting, twice as long as it should have been; Only watch if you are trying to see every film adaptation of Stephen King novels.
I used the tape from this VHS for artwork- that is what I thought of this film! If you have any sense you'll avoid this film like it is a bowl of mouldy tapioca. The only entertainment I had whilst watching this film was when the credits rolled. Then I threw my spaghetti bolognaise over the screen (I'm only joking but it was that bad!). Stay well clear.🤮🐂💩💩💩💩💩
I actually had some fun with this, but by no means is it any good. Takes a bit too long to get out of the set-up, especially with it running 3 hours.
The book was GREAT. The mini series...not so much. VERY slow. Not badly done but so very slow. I watched the DVD version and realized when the first half ended that... I'd been day dreaming for at least half of it. That is unusual for me when watching a movie. I suspect it was due to the slow plodding pace.
For something I absolutely hated when it was first on television, time has softened me up a bit and this wasn't bad at all. Done on the cheap, the effects and production are a bit sparse, but King fans can find quite a lot to dig on here. But, of course, the book is an NC-17 atomic weapon compared to this darling little TV-14 cherrybomb.
Very strange, customary King's mind blowing story. above all, keep us spell bound till the end. But the damn so called critics has not seen the movie in good sense- none of them !
with watching a miniseries or short televised adaption, you have to accept that it won't have the same budget and feel as a hollywood film might, that's not to say it can't be fun. I haven't yet read the novel by stephen king and therefore cannot mark whether or not not was a faithful adaption, but i can say that i thoroughly enjoyed the premise, acting and plot line. I found myself to grow rather attached to the townsfolk as they shifted into something they weren't. Though not particularly frightening, and rather weak on special affects, i found that i was intrigued as the characters neared loss of identity and was sympathetic to all parties involved. Great miniseries.
Geez, need to change my pillow case again, I did just change it, but I drooled while I slept. Stephen King my ass.
