In this lively animated adventure, undersea oddball SpongeBob SquarePants and his starfish friend, Patrick, embark on a quest to clear the name of Mr. Krabs, the owner of the Krusty Krab restaurant, who has been framed for stealing the crown of ocean deity King Neptune. Leaving the familiar confines of Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob and Patrick venture out towards Shell City, where they hope to find Neptune's crown, but numerous obstacles stand (or float) in their way.

As a TV series, Spongebob has proven to be quite entertaining in 30-minute doses. Stretching the running time to 90 minutes doesnt help raise the level of appreciation, though.

The questions that the religious right needs to ask are how and why they ever confused homosexuality with pedophilia. Not only does blurring this issue do gays a disservice, it lets SpongeBob get away with murder.

People talk a lot nowadays about SpongeBob losing its magic and not feeling the same way it used to. This is a prime example of classic SpongeBob, and if the show ended with this movie, I wouldn't be sad. This movie feels like the perfect bookend to the characters and the series. It has heart and genuinely pulls on your heart strings in some very touching scenes. In particular the scene where SpongeBob and Patrick are about to die, but find happiness and peace in knowing that they defied the stereotypes set by their piers and defied death many times to accomplish their goals. That's deep! But this movie also is funny and has those classic SpongeBob traits that makes this movie so enjoyable. The SpongeBob voice cast is great and the special guests for this movie are also great. Overall, this is a great movie for cartoon fans and fans of the show.

The original classic is better than the others. Except for Sponge out of water. That one’s cool too. But I do remember see the SpongeBob Movie long ago and I would see it again for the first time in theaters if it returns.
