In the gritty small-town landscape of 1978 Speedway, Indiana, The Speedway Murders unravels a mystery surrounding four teenagers toiling away on the graveyard shift at their local Burger Chef. When police respond to a midnight call there, they discover the restaurant eerily deserted -- lights aglow, back door ajar, and the young workers vanished without a trace. The enigma deepens when, the following day, the bodies of the teenagers are discovered in the depths of the nearby woods. Employing reenactments to explore four divergent theories, the film leads the audience through the intricacies of that grisly night, challenging assumptions, casting doubt on the innocence of various characters and weaving an intricate web of intrigue.

The Speedway Murders‘ most bizarre and unforgiving choice is to have actors portray all the possible case theories through the ghosts of the victims inside The Burger Chef on the night the events took place..it feels exploitative and disrespectful. Go to Full Review

The true crime documentary The Speedway Murders has a good mix of interviews about the 1978 Burger Chef murders in Speedway, Indiana. But the movie is ruined by tacky drama scenes of the murder victims as ghosts trying to solve their own murders. Go to Full Review

Paula O @Paula33 2d I thought that this was very well put together and thought provoking indeed. It was a stand out documentary whether people agreed with it's method of actors/content matter was appropriate is inconsequential I in my humble opinion. The facts are the facts, new theories and evidence have come to light as a result and I for one do hope that the one or ones responsible are soon caught up with and or found/discovered. Sadly even though this is a terrible tragic loss of life and loved ones for the story/truth of the people involved to have to stand out from the crowd is needed in this world of over content and the internet especially and I believe it was achieved in this documentary. Very original as certainly not one I will forget. RIP to all 4 beautiful young ones and love and light to the families and friends left behind. May you soon have some answers that you all deserve.♥️ See more Geneva Aug 5 I really enjoyed it. It felt like an original and respectful storytelling that feels like it will renew interest in the case. See more Peter H Mar 6 I truly believe the police should be held accountable for their incompetent efforts in not solving thia investigation. I do understand 1978 was a very different time in America, but as police officer you have a due diligence, curtesy & procedures to abide by as a swore protector of the community and this never happened, hence the reason it will forever and always be a cold case. See more PitPunkOneTime @FukLeo 12/06/2024 The reenactments are so exploitive it’s reprehensible. Having the murdered teenagers standing around theorizing on how they were murdered? Clearly, nobody was thinking of the families reactions to watching this. See more Carl S 11/07/2024 The scenes with the murdered burger teens seem similar to. Stranger Things not bad, horrible what happened to them though See more Todd E B 11/03/2024 So I was not expecting how this doc was put together. A very creative execution of the story of the Burger Chef employees that were killed in November of 1978. Using actors to not only portray the events of the evening these employees were kidnapped and then killed, but also incorporate them as part of the story telling for the film. The unsolved crime story also uses Speedway residents/witnesses interviews to add to the attempt to try and find out who and why these kids were murdered. A very compelling movie and I highly recommend this crime doc for those who enjoy these types of shows. See more Read all reviews
