The Huntsman is undeniably full of high tension and while it absolutely nails the intrigue at the launch of the film, the film squanders it by opening too many questions longing to be answered.

I fell asleep on this several times. I should've taken that as a hint to stop; but I watched it to the nonsensical end. Very disappointing.

The Huntsman tries to present itself as a dark thriller with horror elements, but the film ultimately feels extremely low budget and underdeveloped. From the start, the production looks cheap, with rough cinematography and editing that make many scenes feel unfinished rather than stylistically gritty. It often feels like very little effort went into crafting a visually engaging movie. The premise centers on a mentor unknowingly training someone who becomes a serial killer, which could have been an interesting psychological concept. Unfortunately, the film never builds the tension or depth needed to make that idea truly work. The acting is mostly subpar, with performances that struggle to create emotional investment or clarity about the characters’ motivations. Because of that, the story often feels confusing and disconnected. While it’s hard to recommend as a strong film, viewers who enjoy B level thrillers might still find some minor entertainment in it.
