While it does have plot holes and moments of “that would never happen”… you have to look at it as a good old popcorn horror movie. You do get pulled in with the Collector and then the Collection we are just waiting for the 3rd movie in the trilogy to finish the story. I’m not surprised it has a cult following. See more SkyRo P @TheMovieSearch Jun 8 The Collection is a horror film listed under two different titles, so I finally decided to check it off my watchlist. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge letdown. The movie clearly operates on a low budget, and while that’s not always a dealbreaker, it’s painfully obvious here. Some of the death scenes and setups felt like they were trying to channel Saw—and in a few moments, they came close—but overall, the film never hit the mark. What really dragged it down was the cinematography and lighting, which were just awful. The entire movie looked and felt cheap, making it hard to fully engage with the story. The editing was just as rough—choppy, awkward, and totally lacking in tension or rhythm. The acting didn’t help either. The cast did what they could with what they were given, but the script was weak across the board. Because of that, the director seemed to be stretching to make something meaningful happen, but it just never came together in any cohesive or compelling way. In the end, The Collector was a flat, uninspired mess. It wasn’t scary, it wasn’t thrilling, and it was honestly tough to sit through—in a bad way, not a so-bad-it’s-good kind of way. It’s one of those movies I’ll never revisit and wouldn’t recommend. Skip it.
