Cómo se extrañan las películas de acción de los 2000: tramas directas, personajes interesantes sin ser necesariamente complejos y escenas que son un goce visual. "Taken" es exactamente eso, y es precisamente su sencillez lo que la vuelve icónica. Liam Neeson construye un personaje que logras amar en apenas media hora; aunque sabes perfectamente cómo terminará la historia, la resolución del conflicto te emociona de principio a fin. Narrativamente, es sorprendente cómo en su hora y media de duración la película no tiene escenas de relleno. No hay momentos para bajar la intensidad ni para profundizar innecesariamente; cada plano es oro y aporta al desarrollo de la trama. Desde el primer minuto, la atmósfera de tensión no decae, algo que se agradece profundamente en el género. Curiosamente, al no intentar reinventar la rueda y simplemente sustentar los clichés de la acción con maestría, terminaron reinventando el género mismo.

Liam Neeson is a killing machine in this movie with the martial arts skills you’ve seen in a Paul Greengrass film. The concept of a former Green Beret man, retired from his security work, in a mission to rescue his daughter from Albanian traffickers sells. It’s very well done with slick photography, a tolerably good music score, and good action sequences. You could end up laughing at all the blood shed (well, implied) and the ease with which he finds the “bad guys,” but you buy the father’s rage. It should earn a higher Roger Ebert star rating, imo. Ebert could be a tough, demanding critic. Simply put - the film is entertaining.

Hadn't seen this in 15 years easily and forgot what an aura merchant Liam Neeson is here with his particular set of skills! A super entertaining, fast paced old school type action thriller.
