When evil scientists, Arcane, attacks the lab for his notes, Holland becomes Swamp Thing and looks to save Cable with the missing notebook. The story was alright, but Swamp Thing looks terrible. See more Stephen O. @DonSevo Nov 27 This is a good movie, not great. The scenes were well performed , even if they were a poorly tied together. I feel like Swamp Thing could have been a lot more scary. You almost couldn’t believe that Cable was scared of him. We won’t even discuss the futility of the last 15 minutes, and the terrible costume of Arcane. Worth a watch, but you’ll forget about it. Adrienne Barbeau, on the other hand, is as fun as ever, especially her hair! Ray Wise and David Hess round out the picture. Wes Craven had fun with the scene transitions. Verdict: A subpar eco-thriller that could easily air on SuperRTL on a Sunday afternoon and is only moderately entertaining. See more Tyler S @tylerking24 Jul 22 That was a very peculiar movie. My expectations were pretty low, and I did not expect much. I'd say I was slightly wrong, but not by much I feel like the thing that really held this movie back from being great was that it was too short. They had a chance to develop the story and characters a bit, but it ended up feeling rushed. Swamp Thing the character was also what I expected. But for the 80s, he actually looked better than I thought. I actually enjoyed the character arc for him. Deep down, he seems like a guy who just wants to be normal. Overall, my opinion of this movie is perfectly down the middle, nothing great, but about the best they could do. The cast is solid but not extraordinary, with the standout being the great Adrienne Barbeau as Alice Cable, playing her as a capable woman and not a damsel in distress. Behind the camera, Craven crafts a solid comic book movie that sticks fairly close to the source material. Granted, the acting is mostly cheesy, but the Swamp Thing costume holds up pretty well.
