The start of its third act wobbles a bit, but the filmmakers provide a smashing ending that holds hope there will be more adventures to follow. Go to Full Review

Storm Rider: Legend of Hammerhead is crushed by the weight of its own franchise aspirations, conflating lengthy exposition and omnipresent narration with worldbuilding. Go to Full Review

The ambition exceeds the grasp of this derivative thriller that borrows so liberally from other dystopian science-fiction sagas that you’d think it was a lampoon if it didn’t take itself so seriously. Go to Full Review

Robert U 5d CGI was a little weak. Relied a little too heavily on narration instead of script. Found out about it by randomly scrolling through film descriptions on the Regal app, and wanted to see it because of its ties to Croatia. It wasnt Casablanca, but it was entertaining. See more The_Fishmonger Mar 17 The film has a great setting, and in general doesn't push its special effects to where they look super cheesy. There's lots of world building, unfortunately maybe even too much. It didn't leave enough time for us to get to know the characters, and actually feel for them. Also some of the plot points seem like they were trimmed down too much. At a couple of points I couldn't figure out what was going on. At other points, I just didn't care what was going on. The inumerable boat races were tough, too. I couldn't tell which one was which unless there was a closeup. Maybe some subtle color themes would have helped. There were only two groups in the theater today and one gave up half-way through. The film just doesn't work. See more jesse v Mar 17 waterworld but with jet ski racing with a narrator but the camera is NEVER steady and a lot of production shortcuts and weird editing. the female kid acts so emotionless and robotic, though the premise is interesting nonetheless. See more Joe S Mar 17 It was ok. I’m guessing it was a good book and might have been a better 2 part movie. It felt like there was a lot of story left out and a lot of what they did cover was basic and moved slow. Not bad, but would have been fine seeing it next year on TV for free. See more ALEKS Mar 17 Im not a film critic, but I know what I like—and Storm Rider didnt deliver. The locations were beautiful, but the film lacked excitement and never pulled me into the story. Too much narration and not enough action made it feel flat. I expected more of a DC-style energy, but it fell short.
