Ultimately, Something in the Dirt doesn’t quite convince as a genuine mystery -- and it doesn’t seem to be meant to. Having fun with the artifice of it all seems far more to the point.

I loved all the hidden clues & signs throughout this low budget sci fi gem. The scribbling on the trainers, the constant lighting of cigarettes, the clicking of the pen - to try and exert some control, marking reality, tracking change, grounding habits - to distract from the chaos of everything around them. I also appreciate the subtle nod to The Endless when they opened the drawer. A must watch especially if you enjoyed the Endless - this is way better & gripping throughout.

Slow moving but in an intellectual way. Great dialog and cinematography make the viewer question if this is an actual documentary. Nothing like Blair Witch but still has that kind of vide. Very chill and enjoyable with subtle comedy.
