Nebraska City, summer of 1991. Inseparable best friends AJ (Conor Sherry, "Are You Afraid of the Dark?," "The Terminal List") and Moose (Gabriel LaBelle, "The Fabelmans") seize the opportunity to run the local pool's rundown snack shack after their plan to gamble on dog races and sell home-brewed beer goes down the drain. A good enough coming an age story and nostalgia for those who grew up in the 90s before smart phones and Internet in every home. Those were the best of times where you could mess up and not have it recorded online for life. Worth a watch

While it bends on occasion towards trope, the early 90s vibe saturates every scheme, every antic, with the quintessential era emotional gut punch. Gabriel LaBelle, near unrecognizable following The Fabelmans, and Conor Sherry lead with the aplomb of film veterans, and Nick Robinson brings the coming of age crown he aptly earned in Kings of Summer. I cant recall the last time I sat in theater filled with that much consistent laughter throughout the crowd. This original content would die on the streaming vine amongst the endless jumble of algorithms and scrolling, thanks Paramount and MRC for giving this the theatrical run.

The use of the F word was WAY OVER USED!!!! The amount of usage of the word brought down the enjoyment and credibility of the movie. Being from the Nebraska City/Sidney/Peru area, we enjoyed seeing familiar scenes. But I suggest cleaning up the language.
