It sounds like just another urban legend -- a videotape filled with nightmarish images leads to a phone call foretelling the viewer's death in exactly seven days. Newspaper reporter Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) is skeptical of the story until four teenagers all die mysteriously exactly one week after watching just such a tape. Allowing her investigative curiosity to get the better of her, Rachel tracks down the video and watches it. Now she has just seven days to unravel the mystery.

It has a few iconic horror scenes and a very specific vibe. But it left me with far more questions than answers and I'm not sure I care to learn what they are...A bit of a frustrating watch despite looking pretty cool.

(Spoiler Warning!) It was pretty good, I like the intensity of the movie but I don't like the cliff hanger, overall it was interesting but I feel like it shouldn't feel like the end of the movie when even the signature crawl out of the tv thing was after "it all got solved" and all that just to realise I have to watch a whole new movie, idk that's just my thoughts on it but it was pretty good

Everything about this movie is awesome. First, the tone and atmosphere of the film really amplifies the feeling of utter dread you get watching this movie. The entire time you watch this movie, there is a large presence of disdain and terror looming throughout. The score also complements the rest of the tone very well. Hans Zimmer's use of piano and violin melodies helps add to the somber and horrifying atmosphere of the movie. The whole movie has a green tint to it that gives the film a sickly and almost gross feeling, which continues to add to the unsettling nature and atmosphere of the film. Naomi Watts gives a great performance as our main protagonist, Rachel. The movie does a great job of making you feel like you're unraveling the mystery right alongside her, and I think that is, in part, due to Naomi's great performance. But it's also because of the great director, Gore Verbinski. He's putting a lot of work to create some disturbing imagery. The death of the horse is very dark and scary, and the scene where Samara climbs through the TV is pure nightmare fuel. That scene is still very creepy and unsettling to this day. So, all this is to say that this is an excellent movie. It's scary, disturbing, and unsettling, all in the best way possible. The acting, the cinematography, the score, the tone, everything about this movie is amazing and is one of the best movies in the horror genre. ABSOLUTE CINEMA!
