1942. France is under Nazi control. The Allies have been pushed off the continent and their defeat in North Africa seems likely. Germany's victory is nearly absolute. Under this dark shadow, a man named Jacques (Cary Elwes) uses a radio to broadcast a message of hope. He hides in an attic with his daughter Juliet (Greer Grammer) and a small group of fellow survivors (Judd Hirsch, Mira Furlan), playing a deadly game of cat and mouse with the German occupiers. The world becomes too dangerous when the Gestapo send Captain Klaus Jager (Sebastian Roche) to catch Jacques. As Klaus closes in, Jacques and his small group make a desperate bid to escape their pursuer, trusting themselves to the help of enigmatic Andre (Jason Patric), a Swiss banker. In the end, that trust may turn out to be the very thing that leads the hunter to his prey.

Unfortunately, Matthew Hill and Landon Johnson's timid film fails to fully capitalise on this uncomfortable scenario and misses opportunities elsewhere, instead going big on self-satisfied pieties about fighting the just fight.

This is a solid historical drama with a positive message of hope in the midst of despair. Resistance 1942 isn't really saying anything new in the sea of movies about WWII, Nazis, and the resistance to fascism.

I think the critics should be ignored. Listen to the public. This was a fabulous movie. I encourage everyone to watch this movie and they will leave with a little more humanity.

Lindamente triste, melancólico e esperançoso… Esses filmes de guerra, principalmente quando envolve crianças e/ou tortura nos desprende o melhor e o pior em nosso âmago… Meia biografia do artista mímico Marcel Marceau e Klaus Barbie (o açougueiro), excelente ambientação e narrativa, nos cativa, do começo ao fim, Jesse está sincero e entregue, perfeito... Marcel fez varias vezes o meso trajeto, salvando inúmeras crianças… Altruísmo e coragem...
