Dennis Harvey Variety 02/16/2024
Without much in the way of psychological depth, or potency to its fantastical elements, “Queen of Bones” makes a pretty tepid overall impression, given the expectations raised by its basic themes. Go to Full Review

Authentically staged and bolstered by a simmering supernatural undercurrent, QUEEN OF BONES is well-served by its leading lady and a grasp of sepia-tinged atmospherics, both of which patch over some thinly-plotted moments. Go to Full Review
Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue Aug 6
Emphasizing atmosphere over plot, this bleak episode of folk horror is more tedious than thrilling. Go to Full Review

Queen of Bones is still a decidedly mixed bag, with early moments of poignancy undermined by a stilted script and overambitious plot. Go to Full Review

Bishkek M Dec 2 What a masterfully written and directed piece of garbage. The story had no character, no real mystery. Just simple idiot father in a delusional christian high all mighty complex. The movie’s aspect ratio filming format was also distracting and not complimentary to the story. 1.33:1!? WTF. Don’t waste your time. Excellent acting talent wasted on a weak story. Absolutely nothing wrong with the actors…they were awesome…just the plot (or lack of) was terrible. See more Morgan W Nov 21 This was such a phenomenal film! The cinematography, story telling, acting, everything. I cannot believe how unheard of it is. I hope that this writer continues despite the film not getting the audience it so clearly deserves. See more Adam B Nov 17 The cast feels too modern for a film set in the 1920's. The story is predictable, however there is some interesting elements around some of the lesser characters. I'd like to know more about "the witch" and the bootleggers. See more Michael W Nov 6 These movies need to stop trying to push WHITE AGENDA in certain scenes, ok. Everybody knows that witchcraft is a watered down version vodou. And that the drawing of sigils began in ancient times...and guess who taught whites how to read...the Egyptians/Kemetics. But instead of putting a (real sigil) on the front of the book of shadows that they found. You put an aegishjalmur. Which is first a compass...but no sailor Second,... can be drawn with spit on the forehead for glory in battle...but no huge battle in progress. Third..exists mainly as an emblem in the "poetic edda". Angli-Saxons who have real viking roots are getting tired of you Neanderthals using or should I say misusing their baubles. As soon as I saw what was on front of that book I turned the movie off. I am clear on who my ancestors were and on others ancestors as well. And it is time to start taking their history which is our history VERY seriously. See more Kenzie F Nov 4 So pain achingly dull that I couldn’t even finish it. I barely made it to the halfway point. So slow moving and uninteresting. See more Persephone C Oct 17 I liked it. Reminds me of Shyamalan style. I appreciate folk/supernatural drama movies that have a little bit of everything.
