Project Wolf Hunting Reviews

Sep 4, 2025

The problem with the movie in my opinion is the (Timing and Event organization) If it had started with the human experimenting but make it ambiguous, and then provide us with a brief of a back story, later comes the story of the of the criminals being transferred. I think this would make much more sense and make the plan of the (normal) criminals really stupid compared to what else is going in the ship the suspense would be there and plus this could have made them cut those useless scenes

What a terrible movie. This may be the worst Korean movie I have ever seen, though I confess to only seeing a dozen or so. It was set up to be a movie like Alien or the Thing but it was wasted by turning the first half of it into a simple gore fest. Maybe the second half got better but I could only watch it about halfway. I was expecting more of a Western type of process so I was a bit surprised that they brought on so many cops and robbers in addition to the crew since I thought they would be knocked off one by one and assume that the only survivor would be the female cop since I recognize her as a major star and one of the criminals. But they managed to kill almost everybody before the monster even appeared. This was helped by a major plot hole that could easily have been fixed. Instead of characterizing the 20 detectives as a veterans with all more than 10 years experience they could simply have said we have selected 20 detectives who have failed numerous IQ tests and who all had their elementary school graduation diplomas forged. I did feel sorry for the crew since they were civilians and quite frankly were in a situation that they could never expect and had no experience with but the cops, my goodness it'd be hard pressed to find a stupider collection of people anywhere. If they wanted to the skyrocket the body count, there are better ways to do it. I'm sure somebody on the production has a 5-year-old at home who could come up with a more entertaining scenario.

Kim Hong-sun directed the South Korean science fiction horror film. Starring Seo In-guk, Jung So-min, Choi Gwi-hwa, and others. An operation to extradite Korean criminals from the Philippines ended in the deaths and injuries of innocent passengers, cops, and criminals when a grieving loved one of one of the victims of criminals carried out a suicide bombing at the airport. Long after, South Korean authorities deploy cops to repatriate Korean criminals from the Philippines, this time by cargo ship. These criminals are extremely violent. Unbeknownst to them, a deformed man with super strength is being shipped onboard, and he needs injections every six hours. The next frames show convicts releasing themselves and savagely assaulting officers, chewing off ears, bashing skulls with hammers, handcuffs, and other blunt objects. Meanwhile, the monster has awakened, unleashing considerably more agonizing attacks on criminals and officers, shocking them all. I can't believe I missed this gem. Perhaps because I took a break from movie watching for a few years, I missed numerous movies and am now attempting to catch up on them. Anyway, this was really a surprise to me. I read a brief synopsis of criminals being extradited, and I thought, "This will be fun." However, I had twice the enjoyment here because the film depicted two wicked groups. Hong-sun has stupefied us on numerous occasions. He depicts mystery within mystery, how even insane and psychotic people dread for their own demise when the time comes, no matter how much they mock their victims' helplessness. I give the film a favorable score, and I would have given it five stars, but the end did not make it impeccable. It hinted to a sequel, of which there has been no word.

It's not a bad movie, but it's very cheap, and there are a few flaws. The plot is not clear, it was interesting to watch, but I would not watch this movie again

A redundant, unimaginative offering written by what must have been juvenile, rabid primates. Calling the violence and gore gratuitous doesn't convey how repetitive and unoriginal the violence and gore is. There are better offerings to stream.

As much as I love movies, I quite enjoyed this one. It's great if you want a slightly cheesy Korean horror movie. Unfortunately quite a few things happened that made me not like the movie, but the one thing that really made me be thrown off was when Lee Da-yeon was brutally killed off. You root for her, Do-li, and the other 2 from the get-go. However, she is simply killed off before getting to safety. Another thing was the "dead" (I say dead because everyone else was presumed death except Do-li was alive) bodies are fed to pigs, bodies that were pumped full of chemicals that give superpowers, being fed to animals that you have no idea if they'll get those powers. The "monster" / Alpha having a regenerative of sorts ability (shown when he pulls the bullet out of his body, it stops bleeding and sorta looks like it's healing) however then being killed off. His arm stops bleeding after the detective bits / slices it off. Do-li also having stopped bleeding, even though he was partially stabbed, when Alpha had sliced at him. Not much to be said about regenerative, but they do all show at least some sort of ability to stop bleeding. This leads me to the climax of the movie, Alpha simply doesn't stop bleeding? But some how Do-li, who survives until the end of the film, stops bleeding. I do hope this movie gets a sequel as I want to see the continuation of Do-li's story and if he gets his son back.

This movie is a cautionary tale of how it's not enough the have a good concept, you need plot and payoff. The majority of the runtime is dedicated to disgusting dismemberment and brutality, with badly done fake blood literally pouring everywhere. Nothing gets resolved and there is nobody to root for. There are only a few characters that get to say more than a few lines and before you can even think if you should be interested in them, they are killed in the most messy and gruesome way possible. For a bit, it looks like maybe the female detective (Jung So-Min) will have some arc or role to play, but she gets murdered before long - mercifully by being shot. Honestly, they should have killed the last survivor too - I couldn't care less about him. This movie is a waste of potential and a waste of your time.

Project: Wolf Hunting is one bonkers movie. Loads of ridiculous fun.. gory as all hell! A must watch for anyone who likes an unbridled and over the top entertaining action / horror gore-fest.

no matter the size, shape or severity of the wound, gallons and gallons of blood will instantly be spewing out of it. unfortunately, not much is done to make this ultraviolence, or the characters surrounding it, engaging for the entire two hour runtime. after the first 30 minutes, the film just seems to repeat its methods of murder over and over again.

While transporting criminals aboard a cargo ship, law enforcement officials must battle a violent uprising when the offenders escape their restraints. Umm, what did that doctor bring aboard? A thin plot but the star of this show is the violence and action. Once it gets rolling there's very little time to recuperate from one slaughter to the next. Choreography is top notch. There are some failings of CGI but I enjoyed the film so much I could forgive it.

Unexpected full enjoyment

Wolf Hunting didn't do it for me. The plot tried to boil the criminal ocean and the gore was so over the top and poorly done at the same time. The huge ship full of criminals and a sci-fi project was too much.

What's remarkable with Korean movies is their desperation to imitate the western counterparts, by doing so they have ruined many unique plots in recent times. Neugdaesanyang is one of those imaginative stories that gets drowned in red syrup and silenced with too many gushing and bashing noises. Acting was thorough and a bit too intense. Great special effects though many been used repeatedly and menacingly. A very interesting story that leaves room for another instalment that would hopefully have a distinct character of it's own. PWH is a good story that when all graphic imagery is removed has still some takeaways.

More blood than you might expect to see in a film of any genre, but this is actually a quite effective thriller. The tension mounts nicely, although the characters are a little two dimensional; I guess that's because they are all expendable, so don't get too invested. There is a bad continuity error at one point, but in all the mayhem and gore it doesn't really matter. Non-stop action is what you get here, as the film tears towards its climax.

Decent idea but its far too violent, too much blood, gore for the sake of it. Needless killings. Boredom by the 2nd hour.

Cops vs criminals & a super soldier thrown into the mix "Project Wolf Hunting" is full on bloodbath & it's glorious.

So.. it's giving me "Story of Ricky" x "Monstrum" (the video game) x the opening from "Pineapple Express" vibes? I don't know, I had a lot of fun at the theater, my bf thought it was stupid.
