See more Geoff W Oct 31 The Postman I think was a very underrated movie for the time, but in the coming years its message will become more prevalent. Without spoiling anything, but the time the film ends, its 2043. It's rare to see a movie of this age have a shelf life that long ,because in reality, with the rise of AI, and looming civil wars - it is not all that unforseeable that this could potentially be a realistic future. One which all technology is abandoned, communications are scarce and miniature factions have broken out across the globe in clandestine type villages, mimmicking the age of the old west etc. Horseback becomes the norm because of the lack of petroleum, and so on. This movie is really not as unbelievable as it seems. If they had perhaps filmed it in more urban locations, maybe the message would have been stronger. Merry Christmas 🎄 See more Hughe J @Hughe Oct 4 The Postman was released in theatres in 1997 and stars Kevin Costner with Kevin Costner directing. Set in post apocalyptic America Costner is a drifter who happens upon an long abandoned postal truck. He takes the dead postman's uniform and mail bag with the intention of delivering the mail to a nearby town and hopefully getting food and shelter. He ends up convincing the locals that the government is back and they get inspired to challenge a local warlord and soon form into a postal army. The film was three hours long, really dragged in spots, had terrible writing, but all of the fight scenes had practical effects and were shot on real locations not a collection of green screens. I found some of the movie to be interesting but I wish it was shorter in length and the acting better in quality although Will Patton was his normally decent self as the baddie. Overall it was fine, long and bland, but fine. See more Read all reviews
