Sold as a modern-day investigation of relationships, Newness quickly becomes a far-cry for help. It is only saved by coincidence and an underdeveloped connection that holds the characters accounted towards one-another

Newness is a raw look at a couple of young people's sex lives in the digital age. I gave it 3.5 stars only because it can be emotionally draining (and make you contemplate your own past relationships in the wee hours of the morning), but the story itself is excellent. The acting is incredible, especially that of Laia Costa, whose character Gabi feels like a real, complicated person. Everyone was great, though, even the minor characters.

Young people getting more mature about what they want in a relationship. Nothing new here, and not particularly well acted either. Just decent. Has about the same feel as "Lie with Me" (2005), but with a dating app in the mix, less sexually explicit and less contemplative. Got predictable and boring about halfway through. Would not recommend.
