I wasn’t a big New York Dolls fan before this documentary but I grew a great amount of respect for their music and Arthur Kane’s very curious life journey and passing. However, when I first saw this film years ago, it made me care about their bassist Arthur "Killer" Kane. New York Doll is a simple documentary about the life of a former punk rocker who hits rock bottom and then finds new hope in religion. It's a redemption story, really. Kane is portrayed as such a humble and likeable person that you want him to be happy. And the sadness in his life is constantly accompanied by a sweetness from his optimism those who surround & support him. New York Doll is definitely worth watching.
