Not a mawkish dying-dog tearjerker, "My Dog Skip" carries a touch of Mark Twain, with quasi-dangerous tall tales and awareness of a gap between childhood and boyhood. Plus, as it's said of "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," there's cussin' in it.

My coworker Alden recommended I watch this as his favorite movie. Yes, it has sentimental appeal, a good cast, a positive Mississippi story, and it’s family friendl. There was that whole bizarre moonshine incident, but it’s mostly harmless. Saw on box.

A boy and his dog story, although been done to death, it's the best way to go in my opinion. In fact, this is the best film of 2000 in my opinion, too. Get ready for tissues for the last third of the movie, because it's intense, but bittersweet

Pretty good overall. Frankie Muniz was very good. Diane Lane great as always. Wilson and Bacon were pretty good in it. Decent plot. Good, clean dog movie that will leave moist eyes when over. Worth a look.

Very touching & meaningful movie. One of the very few movies I was able to get my son to watch with me when he was younger. It was as a heartfelt story that makes you appreciate how powerful love is. I recently watched it again & it reminded me of the time I watched it with my son. If you do not feel joy & intense sadness watching this movie, then you are not human.
