Fearful that her ailing father will be drafted into the Chinese military, Mulan (Ming-Na Wen) takes his spot -- though, as a girl living under a patriarchal regime, she is technically unqualified to serve. Mulan marks a sumptuous return to top form, and it can stand comparison with anything done in the classic era of Disney animation. Back then, Snow White dreamed that some day her prince would come. Today, the prince would not find Mulan waiting for him.

A heartwarming movie about self-worth and confidence. One of Disney’s all-time classics that follows the story of Mulan and her learning that her worth comes from within and not from others. A story I believe all children should watch and aspire to be like Mulan. Every shot and every scene is made to enhance the story and serve the plot only. Not a single frame is wasted, nor is there filler. The animation is top notch and brings cultural and artistic influences from China.

Easily one of the best 2D Disney animated films with its dark tone & bold look at gender roles. It’s so aesthetically pleasing with all the detailed Chinese set design. Not only are the original songs some of the best for these kind of movies but the score is also exceptional. The plot is so epic & triumphant that everything feels emotional. It’s a kids film so the seriousness is undercut by humor but it all still works very well.

With that said, I still enjoyed this movie as an adult as I had as a kid. Sure, my thoughts were different due to age. Except it doesn't matter much since I still enjoyed this movie for how it was choreographed, animated, and acted. Is it up there as my top six? No. Still, it is in the top twelve if I were to rank my favorite Disney original movies. It is an appropriate movie to show that even women could do what men could do, especially with what the time period was like back then. That's coming from a man like myself, by the way. I will be giving the legend of Fa Mulan eight Mulan sitting on top of the column with pride after retrieving the arrow that was struck up top out of ten. 8/10.

The best Disney film imo. Has brilliant comedy, addictive memorable songs, stunning cinematography, a great storyline with emotional scenes. The art direction is unforgettable and recognisable. Mulan is a loveable and meaningful Disney princess.
