Clever and polished, a surplus of style over a piffle of substance that's supremely entertaining for all its inconsequence. Go to Full Review

09/18/2013 A darkly delicious comic mayhem...too bad Netflix don't have the HD version... See more 06/14/2010 I have a soft spot for Beineix; not only is Betty Blue one of my all-time favourite movies, but I had the very rare pleasure of interviewing Beineix at the Toronto International Film Festival many, MANY years ago. In a random check on the IMDB to see if he'd done anything since IP5 & Rosalyn and the Lions, I saw a reference to this film and tracked it down. What a masterpiece. Not as good as Betty Blue (of course!) but a fanstastic Hitchcockian sexual thriller that delivers more of the goods than Kurbrick or Polanski have done with Eyes Wide Shut and Bitter Moon (respectively). The lasting impression I have of Beineix was of an intelligent, erudite and gentle man with a devlish sense of humour. And in this film, those same charms come across quite vividly. Excellent film, at once suspenseful, complex and at times, very very funny. See more 12/27/2009 It was good to watch again that not-very-realistic movie in the tradition of Brian de Palma's Body Double and Snakes Eyes; full of beautiful camera moves, amazing colours and beautiful bodies! It deserves more than what the critics said about it... See more 11/25/2007 It's a good idea to make a film noir based on Freudian psychoanalysis. Additionally, it has a very good sense of humor. See more 11/11/2007 The seriousness with which this film takes Freudian psychiatry seems out of place at this late date, and the verisimilitude in Michel's transport of the body of Olga seems a little lacking, too. At least the Eiffel Tower lit up for the Millennium is pretty. See more Read all reviews
