Every generation, a portal opens up between the Outerworld and Earth. Emperor Shao Kahn (Brian Thompson), ruler of the mythical Outerworld, pounces the moment the portal reopens and slips through with his mighty warriors, intent on total domination and uniting the two worlds. However, he has only seven days to complete his task. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is an unwatchable mess, a bewildering hybrid of Power Rangers aesthetics and Bruce Lee-style martial arts, seemingly directed by a team of 12-year-olds. The plot is incoherent, the performances flat, and the action, though intended to impress, often lands as laughably chaotic. Ambitions far outstrip execution, leaving a film that is tedious, unengaging, and best left unseen.
