Made in Italy Reviews
Ultimately, this is a family drama in the vein of Neeson’s lower-tier thrillers: It gets the job done with some efficiency, but it’s hard not to think of the many times Neeson himself has done similar, better movies.

Made in Italy has indeed an emotionally compelling father-son story that many viewers will surely connect with, but James D'Arcy's directorial and screenplay debut is not going to be remembered for long.

Made in Italy keeps the ball rolling on the problems of the rich and white in the Tuscan countryside — grab a number and get in line.
Full Review | Original Score: 2/5 | Sep 1, 2022
I had no problem latching onto the two lead characters, believing their feelings of loss, and rooting for their inevitable reconciliation.
Full Review | Original Score: 3.5/5 | Aug 23, 2022
A predictable film that had all the elements to be moving but its own lassitude got in the way. [Full review in Spanish]

... Beautifully photographed and made to be a crowd pleaser. [Full review in Spanish]
Full Review | Original Score: 3/4 | Jul 28, 2022
The film tries to eschew the vacation airiness to dig into the more turbulent, emotional layers between father and son to then set anchor in calm waters in an ending brighter than high noon in Tuscany.
Full Review | Original Score: 2.5/5 | Jul 27, 2022
A reliable premise, but one that hides a generational dynamic not suitable for cheese haters. [Full review in Spanish]

The Tuscan combo still works. [Full Review in Spanish]

Where's Taken 4 when you need it?
Full Review | Original Score: 2/5 | Apr 2, 2021
Both tone and pacing are uneven and the screenplay could have done with another polish.
Full Review | Original Score: 2/5 | Apr 2, 2021
There's nothing original here and, despite the real-life parallels, little authenticity.
Full Review | Original Score: 2/5 | Mar 31, 2021
But their sincerity can't redeem the movie's corny script, which is mainly concerned with putting those two characters in a ramshackle Tuscan villa and creating gentle schmaltz amid nice scenery.
Full Review | Original Score: 2/5 | Mar 29, 2021
...a slight, gentle but knowing drama riddled with small moments of insight...
Full Review | Original Score: 4/5 | Mar 27, 2021
Everything is played with a sweet sincerity, but it is in service of a screenplay that would rather fall back on cliche as it struggles to penetrate much beyond the surface.
Full Review | Original Score: 2/5 | Mar 26, 2021
Those in the market for domestic drama, sexual tension and humorous mishaps against a backdrop of sawing and sweeping would be advised to try any home renovation show over this.
Full Review | Original Score: 2/5 | Mar 25, 2021
Realism is clearly not a strong suit for writer-director James D'Arcy, but he gets pretty good comic performances from his likeable cast, which includes Lindsay Duncan as an acerbic estate agent.
Full Review | Original Score: 3/5 | Mar 25, 2021
Dull and generic, Made in Italy may be easy to watch but it's simply not a very good movie.
Full Review | Original Score: 2/5 | Mar 24, 2021
If the scenery is glorious, any emotional resonance is undermined by how annoying it all is, while the premise is so far out of the reach of almost anyone in their early twenties, it's basically offensive.
Full Review | Original Score: 2/5 | Mar 23, 2021
An intimate and often light-footed study of grief and family -- albeit one we largely feel like we've seen done many times before.
