Lord of War Reviews
lord of war is not a good movie it is a bad movie just drama / crime film
I don't know how I missed this Nic Cage movie...I've seen many of them. He's one of my favorite actors. This was serious and sad. I recommend it, though, because, as I read in someone else's review, Nicolas Cage was perfect in this role...and no one else could have nailed it. I highly recommend it.
Great, probably one of Nicolas Cage's best performances, he fits this role very well, the film is very light to watch and keeps you hooked from beginning to end, charismatic direction and an even more charismatic protagonist, who guides you on a journey that you don't expect, of course at some moments he seems to want to make social criticisms that don't seem to weigh so much, and the focus is more on the protagonist's challenges than on the war itself, but very good.
Had some interesting moments and probably has some truth to its ideas. But it wasn't as interesting as I'd hoped it would be. I thought the script needed more punch. It was a little dull. I would have liked to see more time with his family. I thought a more interesting thread would have been if he was a loyal family man. But instead, he just turns out to be a really bad guy.
I would like to begin by stating that this film is a true masterpiece. Nicolas Cage delivers an outstanding performance that resonates well with the average viewer, surpassing the quality of many other films. The plot is dynamic and engaging, and the characters are exceptionally well-written. I watched this film long after it was first recommended to me, and I must say—the recommendation was entirely justified. This film is, without a doubt, a masterpiece; a work that brings honor to its creator.
A Classic Drama Biopic. Cage & Moynahan are really good here. The dialouge is really good filled with some great lines. It really elevates a lot of things here and everyone else does a really good job too. Music is pretty solid but probably the weakest thing here. It's used well but isn't that catchy or memorable on its own. It's a bit episodic feeling in the first two thirds. I think the biggest issue is how it will show us in key events and conflicts throught the decades but the supporting characters from that conflict lots of times just disappear for long stretches and the only thing uniting it is Cage. This needed probably to develop the supporting cast a bit more throughly outside of his wife. But for what it's worth it does a great job taking you into the world of being a weapons smuggler and the ins and outs of why and how someone would do this. It clearly has a political message to it also against weapon proliferation but for better or for worse that message gets lost in the conflicts and character scenes. It's got really good cinematography. The opening showing the bullet POV is highly original and there are truly some great acting scenes in this. It's got excellent pacing too because it does a great job bringing his persnal life and gun running together in the end in a great ending too that I appreciate didn't go to happy or to dark but very real. It's a very unique sort of film that isn't really action but also not fully crime either. It walks that line beautifully. Anyone who is a fan of any actors in this, the director, biopics, dramas, or even crime flicks should check this out.
Love it. Great watch that has withstood the test of time. Highly recommended.
Very entertaining film, unique scenes, good voice over, baller performance by none other than nickoli cage. Would very much recommend
Interesting movie with pretty decent acting from most of the cast. Except for Jared Leto. He's the worst part of the movie. He was worse than the war crimes.
This is as non-specific as movies get, put every 2000's Nick Cage movie in a blender and here you go. The goofy accent, the titular rise and fall character, the edge, the glam, the premise that says nothing. It's all here. With that being said, it is good, just very average.
soo underrated movie. This is really a masterpiece.
I keep going back to this movie as it has one of the best VFX long takes I think I've ever seen. There's a lot to this film in how it violates the "no voiceovers" rule, and like "Fight Club" it shows how to properly break that rule. This one is like fine wine, aging for a better taste over time.
Lord of War is a wild, unique, and an amazing film.
Great movie I love it,
75/100 - this movie fails to convey what it set out to show to the audience. entertaining, but a bit long and drawn out. good acting, has stood the test of time, but misses the mark compared to what it could be, a classic.
great showcase of Nickolas cages acting althought it was slow at some points it was mostly engaging and a great ending with a decent plot.
An ok Nicolas Cage movie about guns. Lots of guns. Kind of boring but I watched til the end.
It was a prime example of Cage's acting capabilities while offering an amazing look on the arms trade.
