The little girl is adorable and parts of the film are quite engrossing. However, the acting's pretty ropey, the dubbing sucks and the Mike Leigh-style finale falls flat on its face. An opportunity lost, but not disappointed to have watched it.

My friend & I watched this on Netflix Canada. The language was dubbed to English which was helpful to us. The characters & storyline really kept us captivated...and had us rooting for the characters to have a better life. There were some laughs, and some somewhat shocking moments. It's a film that reminded me that life can be hard sometimes...and everyone is struggling in one way or another. A great look into Taipei...and life there. The actors were incredible.....I especially loved the little girl. I have seen many Chinese movies before so this didn't blow me away...but if you want something different & fun to watch this might be for you.
