deus e @RT19638220 May 3 I went into Hellhound hoping for intensity and depth, but what I got was a disjointed, frustrating mess. Scene transitions were jarring and incoherent—I was constantly left wondering how the current moment related to what had just happened. It felt like a reel of loosely connected ideas, never cohering into a story. Worse, the film would abruptly switch languages without subtitles. I was forced to choose between missing key dialogue or watching with subtitles on for English scenes as well, which broke immersion and added to the confusion. But what ultimately made me stop watching was a deeply disturbing scene: the protagonist—who I think we're supposed to root for—assaults a woman as a means of harming someone close to her. The woman escapes, her rescuer dies, and... that's it. No reflection, no fallout, no mention of the incident in the hour that followed. It was casually discarded, as if the film didn’t care what it just showed. The saving grace of the film is the screen presence of Lousi Mandylor. Mandylor has established himself as the most solid and consistent presence in "B" action and tough guy films. He has had some great ones, most notable the two Debt Collector films, but this one falls short of those. Regardless, he s good here. So is the action. The fights and settings are fun. I happen to watch this on the day after the big Earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand, which was by coincidence, but made it a little different to watch.
