U.S. Navy Cmdr. Ernest Krause is assigned to lead an Allied convoy across the Atlantic during World War II. His convoy, however, is pursued by German U-boats. Tom Hanks is fantastic as the protagonist, but his screenplay is far from truly being one. All dialogues revolve around characters (mostly Hanks') calling naval instructions for most of the runtime and looking either through a window or binoculars.

Enjoyed the feeling of the tension of long days with the unknown. My dad did this many times crossing during the war. Worries of u boats then planes as he neared the British coast. His old ship got torpedoed and he got hit by shrapnel from a Stuka dive bomber. Many didn't make it. He did.

Very boring. Little action, and the atmosphere felt claustrophobic. Also, I am not a big Tom Hanks fan and the whole movie basically revolved around him.

Not your typical war movie good CGI effects Hanks carries the brunt, almost looking like he’s about to go under reminiscing of the cane mutiny

I'm really surprised that this gets the overall rating it does. While I have always been a fan of most of Tom Hank's work, this movie and the rest of the cast sound like they are reading lines. The acting is flat and unbelievable, it sounds like a rehearsal, not a finished product. I have no issues with the production value of the film, but the directing leaves a lot to be desired. I go as far as to say this is the least impressed I have been with Hank's acting abilities since Bosom Buddies.
