Good Grief Reviews
It starts off pretty well, albeit it needs a little bit more character development. It's emotional in parts, very much so. For me, it turned out to be modern aristocratic drivel. You actually end up feel less and less for the characters as it goes on. I'm not sure where the positive reviews are coming from.
The plot struck close to home as I have both lost my mother at a young age and also a partner. I thought the movie was going to pull more heart strings to be honest. Having said that it did try to encompass the complexity of grief with a few chuckle moments thrown in.
Jeg elsker ganske enkelt denne film ❤️ og finder den fuld på højde med Notting Hill. Love it love it love it 😍 en lækker feelgood film til regnfulde dage...til alle dage!
This is a lovely movie. The whole thing is well done. The acting is excellent, nothing over the top.
I'm a fan of Levy but wasn't impressed with this film. This was labeled as a comedy but it failed to make me laugh. It was a bit of a cliche..., pretentious characters therapeutically vacationing in Paris to help a friend with his grief. A lot of boring dialogue.
I have LOVED past Daniel Levy projects, but wow this was a hard watch. I kept hoping it would get better, or something would tie in to make it worth the watch, but absolutely not. Cringey, unbelievable, and just very poor writing in both concept and execution.
This film is very shallow. Sophie (Ruth Negga) is high as a kite totally over acting. Boring to watch. It’s a shame because usually I really like Levy.
This is such a beautiful movie. I actually exclaimed aloud when the credits rolled - “written and directed” by Dan Levy. As if his subtle and touching acting wasn’t enough… I think I will watch this once a year.
Love Dan Levy, love Paris, but the plot and characters don’t do either justice.
A well written, well acted , well directed, well cinematographied film that is sort of boring. Nothing bad to be said, but nothing good either. It uses the beauty of London and Paris to create an "exotic" locale for a North American audience in what is ultimately just a very predictable story. I've wasted my time on worse, and invested my time on better.
The problem with this movie is that there's no context, he needed to start the story of this movie earlier so that there was more to the relationship with his husband and friends, otherwise you have nothing to base his feelings on. It would have been much better if there had been some context for everything.
I really enjoyed the movie, a well done drama genre feature. That is my only criticism - I was in a frame of mind for comedy, and looking forward to comedy. The advertising for this movie is comedy and not drama. This is not a comedy by any means. If your looking for heart felt drama, this is a good movie and I would recommend it.
How did this get such high reviews? Can't trust this site at all. I loved schitts creek and loved David but this movie was so boring. His silly facial expressions are hard to take seriously and the story was so long and boring. I hope he does another movie but sticks to comedy.
I think this film did not get enough credit. Did it fall a little short of what it had the potential to be? Maybe. But it has heart and soul and it was a treat to watch. I think Dan Levy is just getting warmed up.
A well done movie with heart..Dan Levy is remarkable.
a decent effort. it kept my interest. Nothing new to see here. but I like DL from TV
I loved this movie so much, I watched it two times in one days. ❤️ Dan Levy has quickly become one of my favorite actors and I can’t wait to see more from him. He is an actor who can reach people on so many levels and I’m thankful for the work put into this film and others like it. Watching it helped me feel feelings I didn’t know I needed to experience and express. I didn’t realize how numb I had become, barely making it through each day, wanting for it to be night so I could sleep again. It might sound dramatic but this helped me be able to actually cry and start to grieve for my very different experience, yet similar feelings. I love music and films and am thankful for how they improve and enrich my life. Can’t wait to see what other work this brilliant set of artists create.
Simply an everyday story that happens to someone in the world
