Unable to pay back the $20,000 he owes the mob, small-time hustler Link (Antonio Fargas) instead gives up the identity of an undercover cop (Terry Carter) who happens to be dating his sister, Foxy Brown (Pam Grier). When gangsters later kill the cop, Foxy is quick to make the connection and swears vengeance. Posing as a prostitute, and with the help of a group of neighborhood vigilantes, she gradually tracks down the hit men, their Mafia bosses and her own brother.

As handled by Hill, the sensationalistic elements seem both natural and marginal. Grier as Foxy would be fun to watch even if she kept her clothes on and her claws in.

This is fun action sleaze from the classic era of drive-in blaxploitation films, driven by the no-nonsense direction of Jack Hill, and did well enough at the box office to help put the still-gorgeous Pam Grier on the map. Don't miss it.

Filme mais ou menos, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são mais ou menos, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom, e as cenas de ação salvaram o filme.

Foxy Brown sai em busca de vingança, quando o seu namorado é morto por uma quadrilha, por ter trabalhado infiltrado. Foxy decide fazer a mesma coisa, aceitando trabalhar como garota de programa para a quadrilha, enquanto se vinga. Foxy Brown e Coffy possuem praticamente o mesmo roteiro: uma mulher decide se vingar do crime organizado, após eles terem ferido alguém querido por ela. Aqui são abandonadas as críticas sociais de Coffy e focam na ação, dando mais ritmo ao filme. Apesar das mesmas origens, Foxy e Coffy tem atitudes diferentes, sendo que Foxy é mais inclemente. Mesmo com o orçamento baixo, é um filme que te prende, principalmente pela empatia dos personagens, bandidos ou não, bem melhor desenvolvidos pelo roteiro de Jack Hill. Pam Grier é a dona de tudo, convencendo no seu papel de badass. Mas não podemos deixar de citar Antonio Fargas, como irmão de Brown, e Kathryn Loder, como líder da quadrilha, em um papel ambíguo em relação à sua sexualidade.

The lead actress is quite compelling. The movie feels like it leans too much on her sex appeal though. Some of the support actors weren't great. Still, plenty of action and not a bad effort overall.

Grier's sassiness is the glue that holds it together, and the film's abundance of attitude compensates a lot for its technical shortcomings. Foxy Brown is a must if you're into cult classics.
