Dumbo Reviews
Nota 9/10.
Dumbo is one of the most polarizing films made by Walt. Sometimes it's very serious in tone such as when Mrs. Jumbo is being taken away to solitary confinement and the "Baby Mine" scene, but other times it is way too silly and it feels almost like a stereotypical guide to the circus or a compilation of generic circus gags. Character development is poor and the story is bland, and there are many scenes that are not relevant to the story or any form of development. The music is also hit-or-miss, sometimes it's fantastic, other times it is too reckless and campy. The sequence I use to describe the film is the "Pink Elephants on Parade." The build-up to it and the actual scene itself has no place being in the film whatsoever, and has little relevance to the plot. However, it works in the weirdest way possible. The animation and music in this is nothing short of phenomenal, and the only part of the film that saves it from being much more. Dumbo is a film you have to watch once in your lifetime, but poor management in story and character development make it quite inferior to the three near-perfect films that came before it.
This Disney classic takes flight with an adoring and emotional story, memorable musical notes, and sequences. Grading: B+
Success in 1 hour and 4 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Starring Cliff Edwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dubbed and subtitled in worldwide studios!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dumbo is a heartfelt 4.5-star animated classic that I truly admire. Its touching story, simple yet powerful themes, and emotional depth make it a standout Disney film. Dumbo’s journey of overcoming adversity is beautifully told, and the iconic animation and memorable music add to its charm. A timeless and deeply moving story that continues to resonate.
I love Dumbo!!! Baby Mine always makes me cry.
This film is sweet and wholesome.
It's good, just not my favorite. I didn't mind the controversial crows. The songs are all pretty good. The movie runs a bit short and I wish it was a bit longer since everything feels a bit crammed into the last 20 minutes of the movie. It's worth a watch for Disney fans.
Although Dumbo has a lot of positives, it also has some glaring flaws. The story is extremely rushed and the elephants on parade scene is horrific. Still, the characters are good and the animation is charming.
The weakest of the 5 disney golden era films.
The Pink Elephants on parade, the Crows chorus, and the comeuppance of Dumbo's tormentors in the finale are 101% my favorite scenes!
It feels a bit rush, but overall it is a childhood classic.
Terrible movie because it has racial stereotypes
A great film but it could have been a little longer as the final act feels a little rushed.
Like most early Disney movies, most of it hasn’t aged well and it isn’t really a fully formed movie in spite of some great bits.
I used to watched this when I was extremely little. Such a good Disney classic.
Esperava mais do filme, ele é bem arrastado em algumas partes. Tem cenas inúteis que fazem você se perguntar se aquilo precisava estar ali. Mas é um filme divertido e muito bonito e triste
Wasn't a huge fan. The animation feels like a step back from Pinocchio and Snow White respectively, while the story is overly short and has an extremely curt and short conclusion. The characters were likeable, I just wish it was longer. The negative racial and animal-abuse scenes are definitely there but still watchable.
Not a huge fan of this movie, not really a story and it's very short, barely feature length.
