Ally F @ThisRedShirtSurvives 6d I waited until a second viewing to review Atlas. The first watch was about immersion; the second revealed more depth than it’s often given credit for. It's a sci-fi action story about guilt, redemption, trust, sacrifice, and the weight of past decisions. Those layers can be easy to miss if the focus stays on spectacle. The late revelation about Harlan added an emotional dimension that reframed Atlas for me and it worked. Jennifer Lopez dominates the screen, which can feel repetitive, and her performance is solid (if not a tad cheesy), especially given the heavy reliance on green-screen work. The supporting cast brings needed dimension and keeps it from feeling flat. I went in with moderate expectations and found myself entertained; never amazed, never bored. Sometimes that’s enough. It’s not perfect in terms of the writing but it’s a visually stunning and entertaining sci-fi adventure with lots of action and drama with a little bit of comedy. I don’t even really like Jlo all that much but I do think that shes a good actress and very charismatic. See more William S @Wnsiii Jan 8 Granted, the movie has some major plot holes. Atlas seems invincible when she shouldn’t be, but for some reason, I still found the movie very entertaining and fun to watch. Her evolving relationship with Smith was engaging. I guess I was able to overlook some of the issues that other people weren’t. See more Justin P @jdxhero Jan 4 I think the story had potential, but the combat is just impossible. The robots take out countless amounts of marines. Somehow, they just can't beat her. She's an annalist. Her mech is near invincible at times. It makes little sense. Then when she is fighting this one robot, she tries destroying it with her mech physically, but somehow can't damage it. Gets knocked out the mech and then she kills it by hand? BY HAND? How is she stronger than the mech? The power balance is all over the place. She might as well be a super hero by the end. Side note, but needless cursing for humor. Not even military related either. Again, makes little sense.
