Haley V @haleyvass3r Dec 11 Assassins is structured beautifully, taking the viewer on a journey and revealing information at the same pace that the general public learned. Throughout my watch, I never knew what to expect and I found myself deeply connected to the story and characters. It's a very respectful true crime documentary, not gory or insulting to the victims, and stays true to its tone throughout the documentary. It's entertaining and pulls the viewer in at every turn, but doesn't veer into glamorizing or romanticizing what happened. Overall, it's a very fascinating documentary that I believe deserves a watch! See more Reese P @reeseeatspeople Dec 11 As someone usually averse to the brutality of most true crime content, I was wary of this film; however, it completely exceeded my expectations, both in terms of how fascinating the story was and the tact it had in discussing the details of violent events. The film is gripping and extremely well put together, seamlessly blending the action of a courtroom drama with the heartfelt tale of these two women. It does not get lost in the sensationalism of the crime and uses clips of the murder itself extremely thoughtfully. Above all, it is a story of these two women, and by the end you feel as though you really understand who they are. I think this film is incredibly important to watch to learn the truth about who really murdered Kim Jong-nam and how Doan and Siti were manipulated. It shines light on the effects that politics can have on everyday people. I found the way that the documentary was told to be very informative but also exciting; I had moments where I felt like I was watching a fictional movie. The fight these two women had to go through for such a strange offense leaves you at the edge of your seat. It is a story that I am surprised I hadn’t heard about until now, but nonetheless one that I am happy was told with such skill and passion. When I began to watch the movie, they made the women out to be trained assassins, however it had a twist at the end I was not expecting. Documentaries usually have a set way of how they are organized, yet this one was different. I loved how the movie gave an eerie feel with the music choices.
